Lets hear more of what Janet had to say:
What do you do?
We are an award-winning company that specialises in creating luxury bespoke cakes for Weddings and other celebrations. Following a private consultation, all our cakes are designed and handmade to order using the finest ingredients available. Where possible, these are local, organic and / or fair-trade. We are recommended by some of the countries leading hotels and wedding venues including The Ritz London, The May Fair Hotel and The Dorchester and have appeared in the country’s leading wedding magazine and on national television. In short, Janet Mohapi-Banks Sculptural Cake Design provides cakes of excellence for discerning clients.
Where are you based?
Based in Epsom but working predominately throughout London and Surrey we offer our services to all corners of the UK. More details can be found on our website: http://janetmohapibanks.com or by calling us on 07725 578450.
When did you establish your business?
Janet Mohapi-Banks became a limited company in August 2009 after several years of creating cakes for family, friends and friends of friends.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
My cake business really started when my daughter turned 4. I made and decorated a figure 4 cake for her with sugar flowers and bugs on it. Friends saw the cake at her party and asked me to make cakes for their children’s parties. In turn, their friends saw the cake and asked me to make the cake for their children and before long the demand for my cakes was increasing so much that it just made sense to turn my paid hobby into a proper business.
How are you different from others offering the same/similar services?
Our service differs from that of other people in our field, not only in the exquisite cake design and immaculate finish, but also in the personal customer care offered. Your wedding day is a very exciting and special time in your life and we want to help make every aspect of it as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. To this end we always travel to you for consultations and meetings and get to know you as the unique people you are. During the meeting where you have the chance to try some cake flavours, we design the cake together using samples of the dress, invitations, flowers or anything else that you would like to use to influence the design. This ensures that you are 100% happy and get a perfect and unique cake for your wedding as I believe that every wedding cake should be as unique as you are. Once your booking is confirmed you receive a sketch of your wedding cake to keep as a special memento of the joy of organising your wedding. Before the big day, we liaise with you, your venue or wedding planner to organise the delivery and set-up arrangements ensuring that you don’t need to worry about a single aspect of your cake.
What’s the best bit about your working day?
I can honestly say that I enjoy every aspect of my working day. From meeting with clients and designing the cake, to baking the cakes and creating the delicate adornments such as sugar flowers, models and elegant piping; every part of creating a fabulous and unique cake fills me with joy and excitement.

SERIOUSLY - how gorgeous are these cakes!! Get yourself over to Janets website for more cake treats!
