Wedding Supplier Wednesday - Wedding Belles of Otley

Happy Wedding Supplier Wednesday! We hope you are having a lovely week?

We have a treat for you today!! We are featuring the Wedding Ideas Magazine Highly Commended Bridal Shop Wedding Belles of Otley…lets hear all about them:

Having grown up in Oxfordshire, I moved to beautiful Yorkshire seven years ago when I met the man who is now my husband.

I absolutely loved planning my own wedding and particularly enjoyed paying close attention to little details all the way through. All the effort paid off and we had a fabulous wedding day in 2006 that was filled with little quirky touches and details that our guests seemed to love. From my own experiences, I know how wonderfully exciting planning a wedding can be, but also know how stressful the experiences can be.

Having worked previously in the bridal industry, the opportunity came along in 2008 for me to open up a bridal boutique of my own. It was a chance I simply couldn’t pass up!

When I was looking for my own dream dress, I had a wonderful experience in some shops, but visits to other bridal shops were a complete disaster and I became very upset at times with the experiences I received. With this in mind I wanted to make a difference to the bridal buying experience and to create a modern spacious bridal boutique with a cozy relaxed personal service.

So this is where Wedding Belles of Otley was born. We opening our doors on the 6th September 2008 and hit the ground running.

Our bridal boutique is based in a beautiful courtyard just off the Market Place in Otley’s town centre. We are well situated to attract brides-to-be from the nearby towns and cities of Skipton, Harrogate, Leeds and Bradford, but as word of mouth spreads and our reputation builds, we are increasingly seeing brides from much further afield.

We supply some of the most prestigious bridal gowns around from leading award winning designers such as Alan Hannah, Mark Lesley Bride, Mark Lesley Couture, Nicola Anne and Trudy Lee. We will also be adding to our labels in the next few weeks with new gowns from Romantica of Devon.

The collections reflect individuality, grace, timeless elegance and quality. We have excellent relationships with all our suppliers, and hold special designer events through the year where brides-to-be can come along, enjoy a glass of bubbly and nibbles and meet the designer in person to discuses their wedding and ideal dress. We run some great offers to coincide with the events too!!

When a bride-to-be and their family and friends come to Wedding Belles of Otley they are made to feel completely relaxed as they browse through our stunning collections of gowns. We supply refreshments of bubbly, tea or coffee in a relaxed informal atmosphere and we have a large private fitting area where guests can sit comfortably while we focus on the bride-to-be and help her to find her perfect wedding gown – not just the gown they will wear on their big day, but a gown that they will fall in love with!

I am very passionate about what we do here at Wedding Belles and I love to help brides find their dream wedding dress. My main aim is to focus on every single bride and give her the bridal buying experience that she always imagined - delivering a first-class service with close attention to every detail.

Go and check them out, they have some amazing dresses!

Have a nice week.

Wedding Supplier Wednesday - Boho Weddings and Events

Happy Wedding Supplier Wednesday!

WOW, what a beautiful day! Long may it continue!!!! To add more sunshine to your life, today we are featuring the truly awesome Kelly Hood, the Wedding Planner and Wedding Blogger behind the brilliant Boho Weddings and Events
Lets here what Kelly has to say:
I’m based in Sheffield, and plan weddings across the whole of Yorkshire, Cheshire, Manchester, the East Midlands and Ibiza. Basically within a 2 hour radius of where I live. My blog is reaching right across the world which I’m really chuffed about.

I started researching the idea and going on business courses in June 2009, My website went live in December 2009 and I did my First wedding on 29th Dec 2009.

It’s the cliché story…I got married myself and loved the planning process so much that I just didn’t want to let it go. I’d done a lot of event planning for charities before that, so when I was planning my wedding I could see how I could tie the experience from both together. I got made redundant on the last day of my honeymoon, so decided that it was the push that I needed to work for myself. There wasn’t a whole load of jobs in the market place at the time, so I decided to make my own job…………I haven’t looked back since!

I have to admit I have seen a growing number of wedding planners pop up in my area, and across the country, but we are all different. I purposely set out to create and plan weddings for the more unconventional couple, so focusing on the more non-traditional weddings. I have marketed myself that way and luckily I have got a whole host of really wonderful couples to work with.
I also cover weddings in Ibiza, which sets me aside from most wedding planners in this country. People seem to like the fact that they can meet and talk to a wedding planner in the UK who has actually done it themselves.
Also this is my full time job, so I can dedicate myself to my couple 100%. I couldn’t do this alongside another job, it’s all consuming and you need to be totally dedicated.

What’s the best bit about your working day?

Wow that’s a tough question. I love meeting couples for the first time and finding out more about them and what plans they have, I’m a people person so love the fact that I can talk about weddings all day! I also love the creative elements of my job, coming up with new ideas for my couples, sourcing new inspiration. I love meeting them at the venue and brainstorming with them, I do go off into my own little wedding bubble! I also love the actual planning, tacking a list of things the couple need to do and break all the jobs into monthly to do lists……I’m very structured and live my life on a constant time line (I know how sad) so I love implementing some sort of order into other people’s lives.
But the best bit has to be watching the couple get married, after all that is what it is all about. Being present at someone’s wedding really is such a special privilege!

I work with all sorts of brides with a variety of budgets ranging from £2K - £40K. I have a huge range of services starting with the Boho Hour, going up to the Boho planning workshop, design and styling service, guest management, supplier search, venue search, on the day co-ordination, the rescue remedy, partial planning and full co-ordination. So anyone can use a planner it isn’t just for the rich and famous.
The venue search, on the day co-ordination and partial planning are the most popular.
I am about to launch a selection of other services in the next few weeks, including photo booth hire, and a DIY making service……….watch this space.
And as for the blog my numbers have been growing well over the last few months so I feel I am now ready to take on sponsors, again watch this space!

WOW - we just LOVE Kelly's work. Thank you so much for allowing us to feature you on the blog! The Boho Website can be found HERE and the incredible blog HERE.

Lets hear more of what Janet had to say:
What do you do?
We are an award-winning company that specialises in creating luxury bespoke cakes for Weddings and other celebrations. Following a private consultation, all our cakes are designed and handmade to order using the finest ingredients available. Where possible, these are local, organic and / or fair-trade. We are recommended by some of the countries leading hotels and wedding venues including The Ritz London, The May Fair Hotel and The Dorchester and have appeared in the country’s leading wedding magazine and on national television. In short, Janet Mohapi-Banks Sculptural Cake Design provides cakes of excellence for discerning clients.
Where are you based?
Based in Epsom but working predominately throughout London and Surrey we offer our services to all corners of the UK. More details can be found on our website: or by calling us on 07725 578450.
When did you establish your business?
Janet Mohapi-Banks became a limited company in August 2009 after several years of creating cakes for family, friends and friends of friends.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
My cake business really started when my daughter turned 4. I made and decorated a figure 4 cake for her with sugar flowers and bugs on it. Friends saw the cake at her party and asked me to make cakes for their children’s parties. In turn, their friends saw the cake and asked me to make the cake for their children and before long the demand for my cakes was increasing so much that it just made sense to turn my paid hobby into a proper business.
How are you different from others offering the same/similar services?
Our service differs from that of other people in our field, not only in the exquisite cake design and immaculate finish, but also in the personal customer care offered. Your wedding day is a very exciting and special time in your life and we want to help make every aspect of it as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. To this end we always travel to you for consultations and meetings and get to know you as the unique people you are. During the meeting where you have the chance to try some cake flavours, we design the cake together using samples of the dress, invitations, flowers or anything else that you would like to use to influence the design. This ensures that you are 100% happy and get a perfect and unique cake for your wedding as I believe that every wedding cake should be as unique as you are. Once your booking is confirmed you receive a sketch of your wedding cake to keep as a special memento of the joy of organising your wedding. Before the big day, we liaise with you, your venue or wedding planner to organise the delivery and set-up arrangements ensuring that you don’t need to worry about a single aspect of your cake.
What’s the best bit about your working day?
I can honestly say that I enjoy every aspect of my working day. From meeting with clients and designing the cake, to baking the cakes and creating the delicate adornments such as sugar flowers, models and elegant piping; every part of creating a fabulous and unique cake fills me with joy and excitement.

SERIOUSLY - how gorgeous are these cakes!! Get yourself over to Janets website for more cake treats!

Remember, if we can help you with any bespoke jewellery email us on and if you want to appear on our Wedding Supplier Wednesday email

Have a lovely day!

Wedding Supplier Wednesday - Cards by Sophie

HAPPY WEDDING SUPPLIER WEDNESDAY!! We hope you have had a good week?

Today we are featuring the lovely Sophie from Cards by Sophie…who we couldn’t speak more highly of! Lets see what she has to say:
Who are you?
Hi, I’m Sophie from Cards by Sophie, we make wedding stationery from the early stages of save the dates right up to your wedding day and beyond with order of service, table plans, thank you cards and much more.
What do you do?
I’m the owner, chief designer and card maker at CBS HQ! I’m the main person here, so whenever you email or call, you will always deal with me directly. I have a few behind the scenes helpers too now, worth their weight in gold in the busy periods.
Where are you based?
I’m based near Manchester, but ship throughout the UK and worldwide too!
My website is, facebook page is and twitter
When did you establish your business?
I started my business in 2009, firstly part time and went full time in May 2010. Can’t believe how quickly the time has flown!
I was under the threat of redundancy from my old job, which used to be in the construction industry would you believe! I have always been creative and my old job wouldn’t let me be at all which I hated. I made my own website while I was working out my final months at work. It was originally meant to be part time, but I’ve been so busy I am lucky to be able to run CBS full time from home. People now say to me ‘I always thought you should be doing something creative’ and know I’m in my dream job, which I totally agree with!
How are you different from others offering the same/similar services?
I offer a completely personal service. As I mentioned earlier you will deal with me, I’ve had a lot of really positive comments about the excellent customer service I provide. I like to do this and get to know my clients as much as possible so I can create their ideal stationery. I am always prepared to go the extra mile, whether it be searching for that perfect shade of ribbon, or new item that someone would like to try (that’s where my cheque book invitations came from!), to a completely bespoke design. I want to make life easier for my couples rather than a nightmare to find the right thing.
What’s the best bit about your working day?
Every day for me is completely different, it’s actually quite difficult to predict what’s going to happen and set a plan of what I want to do each day or week! I really enjoy making the stationery itself, it sometimes takes a long time to get to that point with all of the admin etc that you need to do first. I also love dealing with my clients, I’ve built up some really great relationships with previous clients, after all you get to be a part of their special day.

I offer a 10% discount on orders over £300 as standard. You can also purchase a sample for just £1 through our website. We’ve recently introduced a bespoke design service which is becoming really popular. We like a challenge so don’t be afraid to ask!

SURELY THATS AN OFFER YOU CANT MISS! Get yourself over there now!

Thank you so much for allowing us to feature you on the blog Sophie!

Dont forget to check back for more JKD sparkles later this week!

Have a nice day!
